Press Release LTTA_4thGLV

Teachers from Volos participated in a demanding three-day LTTA training in Berlin, dedicated to Circular Economy and Hackathon methodologies, which was attended by partners from all over Europe.

The training, which took place from October 8th to 10th, was organised by the German educational institution CRN, Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/E), the organization from Portugal StoryTellme and the Stimmuli Educational Organisation of Thessaloniki, with the creative support of all partners in the European Erasmus+ project “CicloSchools,” in which the 4th Lyceum of Volos participates as a partner.

Greece was represented by seven professors from Volos, specifically Mr. and Mrs. Socrates Savelidis, Rigo Fasourakis, Nikos Ioannidis, Vasiliki Mantzorou, Paraskevi Anagnou, Chrysa Spenda, and Theologos Pardalidis, as well as the program manager, Ino Korompoki, from the Stimmuli organisation.

As stated in a related announcement, “the training combined theoretical knowledge, practical exercises, and interdisciplinary collaboration, promoting innovative ways to integrate the principles of the circular economy into education and the development of relevant actions.” Thus, it marked a significant milestone in the integration of challenge-based learning and hackathon methodologies into Circular Economy education, and more broadly.

Participants left inspired and equipped with new tools to promote sustainability, innovation, and collaboration within their institutions and communities.

The training began with a warm welcome from the hosts, followed by an overview of the project and the available materials presented by Eindhoven University. During the morning session, participants took part in a World Café session, reflecting on the seven core educational modules on the Circular Economy.

Interactive activities like the Circular Design Challenge and the Conscious Consumption Game, facilitated by CRN, encouraged creative and sustainable thinking. In the afternoon, STI presented the concept of the CicloHackathon – including the roles, structure, themes, and key tools – followed by general thoughts.

The second day was entirely dedicated to learning through a Hackathon. Following the opening session, teachers participated in a series of interactive workshops on topics such as the circular economy, digital tools, and brainstorming techniques. In the afternoon, the teams worked on developing their projects with the support of experienced mentors, learning about presentation methodologies before presenting their final ideas.
The final presentations showcased the creativity, collaboration, and commitment of all participants in promoting sustainable innovation.
