CicloSchools is an ambitious project that aims to address the growing need for Education for Sustainability (EfS) by focusing specifically on Circular Economy (CE) education, a topic that has gained momentum the last years but is not integrated yet in EfS delivered at schools.

About

CicloSchools aims to develop and test teaching and learning resources for supporting the integration of an innovative approach for teaching about CE at secondary schools. It will accomplish that by exploiting existing research and practices of CE in school education capable of developing students’ competences in sustainability and by developing a training programme for science teachers and teachers delivering EfS of secondary education.

 

It also sets the following goals:

1) To exploit existing research and practices and develop new knowledge for innovative school education programmes capable of developing students’ competences in sustainability with a special focus on Circular Economy competences

2) To develop a training programme for pre-service and in-service teachers of secondary education and equip them with competences in action-oriented and competence-based education for sustainability through Circular Economy.

3) To develop teaching and learning resources for supporting the integration of an innovative approach for teaching about Circular Economy at secondary schools

4) To test the CicloSchools curriculum and assess its effectiveness to introduce an alternative and more engaging way for teaching science and sustainability.

Our Target Groups

Pre-service and in service teachers of secondary education

The first target group of the project is pre-service and in service teachers of secondary education who teach science or other courses related to EfS.

Students of secondary education

The second target group of the project is students of secondary education.

School heads, parents, environmental scientists, local CE entrepreneurs and innovators

Finally, besides teachers and students, the secondary target groups of the project are school heads, parents, environmental scientists, local CE entrepreneurs and innovators.
