CicloSchools Workshops Promote Education on the Circular Economy Through Teacher Training and Open Educational Resources

As part of the Erasmus+ CicloSchools project, the partners and schools involved have been organizing workshops dedicated to education on the circular economy, involving teachers, future educators, and members of the educational communities.
The main objective of these activities was to present, test, and evaluate the teaching materials developed by the project, including lesson plans, educational resources, and practical activities designed to support the integration of circular economy principles into educational contexts.
Through collaborative discussions and practical exercises, participants explored ways to address topics such as reuse, resource efficiency, waste reduction, and sustainability in teaching and learning processes. The workshops also provided opportunities to share experiences and reflect on innovative methodologies that promote environmental literacy and a more responsible use of resources.
One of the project’s key outcomes is the development of a free-to-access MOOC (Massive Open Online Course), available on the CicloSchools learning platform. This free online resource provides practical guidance, learning materials, and examples of best practices, supporting educators, trainers, and other education professionals in integrating circular economy concepts into their activities. The platform can be accessed at: https://elearningprojects.eu/cicloschools/.
The workshops highlighted the fundamental role of educators in promoting sustainability skills and raising awareness of new ways of viewing materials and resources, encouraging the transition from linear models to more circular and sustainable approaches.
By promoting hands-on learning, cooperation among organizations, and access to innovative educational resources, CicloSchools helps strengthen environmental awareness, critical thinking, and the adoption of more sustainable practices within educational communities.
